Join BikeVentura's monthly advocacy meeting .    Feel free to invite people!

On the docket for discussion:

- Quick Updates from Last Meeting: Oxnard, Ojai

- Decriminalizing JayWalking with Jared Sanchez of CalBike

An ongoing injustice plagues millions of California residents simply moving around public space, as they walk across the street midblock or roll through stop signs on their bike when there’s no traffic - both of which do not typically endanger public safety. These and other harmless and common behaviors make them targets for police confrontation that is unnecessary and potentially life-threatening, especially for Black people who are disproportionately targeted and suffer the most severe consequences of inequitable law enforcement.

- Open Streets Mapping: A tool for advocates, cities, and equity. With Larry Abele

A group of dedicated volunteers was able to fully update Ventura's Open Streets Map, down to essential details like services and recreation. This will not only contribute to the City's upcoming Active Transportation Plan, it can also be a tool for advocates to see how equitable the bicycle network serves the city, and connects people to the services they need.

We look forward to seeing you there! Here is the ZOOM link:
